Local fishermen told me that this seaweed, called "washweed," washes ashore every year. It's not cherished, often discarded as waste. But when I leaned over to touch it, I was struck by its unique resilience and delicate texture—a touch that resembled the ocean at its most gentle. At that moment, I wondered: What if we could transform this overlooked gift of nature into a truly beautiful and enduring work?So began our long journey of discovery. Working with a research team, we developed a technique to purify and refine the washweed into seaweed fiber. Its naturally stain-resistant, antibacterial, and moisture-resistant properties provide luxury-grade durability and safety without the need for chemical additives. We weave this fiber into carpets—not only allowing people to feel the warmth of the ocean on their toes, but also empowering each piece of carpet to contribute to the protection of the ocean.
